Effective Listening Foundation Course

This 2 day tutor-led course teaches the skills of listening more effectively to others, God and self. It introduces a safe way of listening, but is not training in counselling. Throughout the course, rather than using role play as a learning tool, participants will be invited to draw on and share aspects of their own life’s experience within a safe and confidential environment.

The course provides the opportunity for participants to:

  • recognise the importance of listening in communication today
  • learn and practise the skills of active listening using a specific approach
  • understand the place of compassion, vulnerability, trust and confidentiality within a listening context
  • reflect on the importance of listening for health and wellbeing
  • develop themselves as a listening person
  • consider how they might use listening in the future

It will benefit those wanting to:
  • listen better in everyday life
  • explore an understanding of the importance of listening in their own faith journey
involved in:
  • pastoral work and prayer ministry
  • outreach work in their local communities

A certificate of achievement will be awarded to participants on successful completion of the course.
